Take the Test: Why Checking Your Mental Health is Important
How it works
1

Prepare yourself

Free consults/screenings can be done in person or online!

Come visit us at the clinic! Or ensure you're in a relaxed, comfortable and private room for your online consult

2

Complete the session

Share your concerns, ask plenty of questions, and work together with your clinician to better understand your needs.
3

Plan out your next steps

Plan out your next steps, the focus should be on leaving the consultation with clarity and a plan.

The 30 min consults are a free service we provide to help individuals assess their level of care, understand their needs and see what treatment pathways are available to them. Sessions can be used as a guide to identify any symptoms, gaps or indicators of treatment needs. These consultations are non-diagnostic and do require further assessment by a primary clinician for further evaluation, but the referrals will be made by your consulting clinician!

After your session, you will receive referrals for a clinician suited to your specific needs, and if resources or information are needed, our team will assist in guiding you through to the best support, whether it is with us or someone else!

Our aim with these sessions is to bring awareness to our communities on how to get support and advice on how to get the best mental health support tailored to your needs.

Take our Free Test: The Importance of Tracking Your Mental Health
Being able to manage your feelings, thoughts, and actions is a strong determinant of the state of your mental health. Akin to your physical health, you are likely to experience a spectrum of emotions, leaving you experiencing a range of good and bad days - and this is completely normal! There are some days where you may feel great, and others where you don’t; but what must stay consistent is your commitment to prioritising taking care of your mental health overall, as it can have a significant impact on the quality of the life you lead.
It is entirely possible for your mental health to have a significant impact on:
  • The relationships you have with your family and friends
  • Your ability to perform productively at work
  • The commitment and interest you have in social activities you used to love
  • Your energy levels more generally
  • The recovery and rest from your sleep
You will usually feel it right away when you feel something not quite right with your mental health. One might even describe not feeling like their usual selves. Fluctuating feelings can be temporary, and oftentimes nothing to worry about, but a more persistent, distressed set of emotions should lead you to check in and prioritise your own mental and overall well-being. To get a better insight into your current mental state, we would thoroughly recommend filling out Sanctuary Clinic’s Free Mental Health Assessment in order to help you determine if you need any additional support or resources to help you get through what you may be experiencing.

How to tell if you have good mental health:

You feel good and comfortable

One way to acknowledge you have good mental health is the ease at which you feel satisfied and content with your life. Sudden, and oftentimes drastic, changes in your mood towards feeling worse tend to signal that you may need to pay closer attention towards your mental health.

You feel belonging and enjoy participation

It is tremendously important for one to feel they belong, are provided with security, acceptance, and support, in order to have positive mental health. Separating yourself from socialising may lead you to lose the passion you once had for your hobbies, and may be a telling sign that your mental health is taking a dip.

If you ever feel the need to reach out and speak to somebody who may be able to help you work through your emotions in a positive way, consider speaking with our clinicians by booking your free one-on-one consultation and we will pair you with a qualified counsellor/clinical psychologist at the soonest!

Though it is completely normal to experience occasional bouts of loneliness, prolonged social isolation away from loved ones and those who care for you may indicate that you need to take better care of your mental health.

Remember, the people around you may very likely notice the changes in your mental well-being before you do, and it is essential to have an open mind to seeking support from others!

Challenges don’t keep you down

It is important to remember that unfortunate events are not implausible from occurring in your day-to-day life, but it is most definitely plausible for individuals to be skilled in the act of bouncing back and regulating their emotions from adversity experienced. Resilience, and your ability to recover and bounce back from misfortune, are key indicators of good mental health. Individuals with resilience spend less time dwelling on failures, and instead acknowledge any unfortunate events, learn from them, and move forward with their lives.

Struggling to cope with setbacks and feeling overwhelmed and overstimulated are strong signs that you may need to check in on your mental health. However, the good news is that resilience is a skill that you will be able to learn and is something our clinicians at Sanctuary Clinics are more than capable of helping you improve and work through the challenges you are facing!
